Freehold Township is one of the best places to live in New Jersey. It’s home to the historic site of the Battle of Monmouth, which was fought in 1778 and preserved as Monmouth Battlefield State Park. The park is also home to several other attractions, including Turkey Swamp Park, Freehold Raceway and Freehold Art Gallery.

Whether you’re visiting Freehold or planning to do a staycation over spring break, here are three fun things to enjoy on your own, with a friend or with a group.

1. Turkey Swamp Park

Turkey Swamp Park is a 2,388 acre park on the edge of the Pine Barrens. It features a wide range of outdoor recreation activities, including eight miles of hiking trails, two soccer fields, several children’s playgrounds, an archery range and several picnic grounds.

During the summer, you can access the waterways to go canoeing, kayaking, row boating and paddle boating. In the winter when the ice freezes, you can go ice skating on the lake. People either visit here for the day or camp out here thanks to the large campsite that offers laundry facilities, hot showers and log cabins.

2. iPlay America

If you have kids, you’ll definitely want to pay a visit to iPlay America, New Jersey’s premier entertainment venue. The family-friendly Boardwalk theme provides guests with four acres of rides, games and attractions. You can challenge friends at laser tag, race on the go-karts or enjoy a 4D movie experience. The venue also offers 250+ arcade games.

And, unlike other entertainment venues, iPlay America is free to enter. There are also plenty of things for adults to enjoy, including a bar and grill and Topgolf Swing Suite for playing golf, football, baseball, hockey, dodgeball and more. Before you stop in, check out the latest promotions to save money.

3. Freehold Raceway Mall

Even if you don’t like to shop, you’ll still enjoy an afternoon at the Freehold Raceway Mall. This high-end shopping center has traditional retailers like Macy’s and JCPenney, along with other chain retailers, a food court and movie theater. It’s a great place to walk around, do a little shopping and grab a bite to eat.

There are also plenty of events held at the mall that are worth looking into, and they’re budget friendly. For instance, this month during March, you can grab Photos with the Bunny or join the Paint A Peep Party. The mall also sponsors various projects, such as the current Art Installation in the North Wing of the mall that features immersive and interactive art for all ages.
